ITINERARY
The Incanto Path runs along a 5 km panoramic ring around the historic village of Guarene, an Orange Flag village of the Italian Touring Club.
The village, with the mighty Baroque castle that stands on top, offers a maze of winding historic streets to cross on foot, and is a natural balcony over the valley of the Tanaro river, from which you can appreciate the villages of Langa on the right bank of the river .
It is advisable to park your car in Piazza Pantalera, Viale Mazzini, Piazza Divisione Alpina, in order not to enter the tortuous historic center where parking is scarce.
The departure of the Trail is set in the main square of the town, Piazza Roma, overlooked by the Pinacoteca del Roero, the town hall and the Confraternita dell'Annunziata with its precious trompe l'oeil frescoes.
Once you have taken the descent that starts from the square, in the direction of Alba, the Path opens onto a wide and scenic ridge of vineyards, to then go up again in the shade of one of the last woods at the top of the village of Guarene.
Once you have reached the ridge, you continue through vineyards and cultivated fields until you reach a small group of houses and farmhouses: here you turn right in the direction of central Roero, crossing a row of majestic Madernassa pear trees, a prized local cultivar.
Among vineyards and fields of hazelnut groves, the ridge opens the view on the top villages of Santa Vittoria d'Alba, Vezza d'Alba and Monticello, and returns in the direction of Guarene for a large flat and shady stretch between meadows and wooded corners, with tidy views of the Castagnito vineyards.
Once near the cemetery, the Path returns to the town of Guarene on the opposite side, closing at the entrance to the road that leads to the Castle, via Alessandro Roero.
